Born on Jan. 19th of 1946 at Locust Ridge Tenn into a poverty-stricken family which would later consist of 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to escape the hardships of life through her vivid and far-ranging imagination. Before she could read and write she was creating her own music. Her first guitar purchase came when she was 8 and began performing on the Knoxville Tenn radio station at 11 years old. The same year she made her debut album Gold Band Records an independent small-scale label. The singer established a name for herself locally while still in high school but she dreamed of a bigger stage. After she finished her high school, in 1964 she moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first track to hit the charts for Monument Records. Around this time, Porter Wagoner was looking for the next girl to perform on his television show that was syndicated. Parton was found in the year 1967 was signed to RCA Records by 1968, she joined the Grand Ole Opry. However she left Wagoner's show in 1974 when her solo music, including Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were charting collaborations with them. Parton, after the split of their partnership with Wagoner was the one to write"I Will Never Love You and saw it climb to No. Its first appearance at Number 1 was in 1974.
